“Hi, I’m the guy who reads your e-mail, and also, I love you . . . “
Beth Fremont and Jennifer Scribner-Snyder know that somebody is monitoring their work e-mail. (Everybody in the newsroom knows. It’s company policy.) But they can’t quite bring themselves to take it seriously. They go on sending each other endless and endlessly hilarious e-mails, discussing every aspect of their personal lives.
Meanwhile, Lincoln O’Neill can’t believe this is his job now- reading other people’s e-mail. When he applied to be “internet security officer,” he pictured himself building firewalls and crushing hackers- not writing up a report every time a sports reporter forwards a dirty joke.
When Lincoln comes across Beth’s and Jennifer’s messages, he knows he should turn them in. But he can’t help being entertained-and captivated-by their stories.
By the time Lincoln realizes he’s falling for Beth, it’s way too late to introduce himself.
What would he say . . . ?
Oh well, she’s witty, kind and very pretty and he’s the guy in the IT Department who reads everyone’s work emails just for security purposes. Long-short, this story just tells us that it is possible to fall in love with someone just by knowing her thoughts, how she expressed herself to others or how she interacts with other people even before you see how she actually looks like. Another thing that I learned is when you are in a long-term relationship, you and your partner should never forget to spend time with each other or do things that will remind both of you of how you first fell in love in order to keep the spark in the relationship. In the story, Beth wanted to get married so bad but even if they have been together for 8 yrs., Chris doesn’t feel the same way. Same goes with Mitch who wanted to have a baby but Jennifer is not into the responsibility that comes with it. For me, it may not be a must that you have to have the same beliefs or perspectives with your partner but it is important that you have to meet halfway or someone should give way for the other person just for the relationship to work out. I think that’s it, its a very wonderful love story of Beth and Lincoln and let me share to you some of my favorite quotes from the book.
❤️ “Do you believe in love at first sight?” “I don’t know, do you believe in love before that?“
❤️ “I believe that being miserable about some bad thing that might not ever happen won’t do you any good.”
❤️ “It’s romantic falling in love with someone for who she is and what she says and what she believes in.”
❤️ “I like to pray for things that seem possible. It’s rewarding to pray for something that might actually happen.“
